"A Douglas Boy Drowns In Pena Blanca Lake.

A Douglas youth, Bobbie Eugene Adams, 20, 646 Eighth St., was drowned Sunday in Pena Blanca lake near Nogales, the fourth drowning victim since the lake was constructed in 1958.
The youth was fishing on the lake with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Miller, Fairview Addition. He had been in Tucson Saturday, where the Millers picked him up and took him to the lake. During the day the youth had been swimming and fishing. About 10 p.m. he went into the water and swam four or five minutes when he went under the water. Several attempts were made to recover the body and Sheriff Robert L. Connor summoned the Pima county rescue unit. Efforts to locate the body were abandoned about 3:15 a.m. because of darkness. Resuming their efforts at day-break Sunday, the skin divers recovered the body at 7:45 a.m. It was lodged among brush and tree trunks in 40 feet of water. Bobbie Eugene Adams was born in Buckeye July 4, 1942, although the family home was in Douglas. He resided here all his life, attending city elementary and high schools. Since leaving high school he worked at the Gadsden Hotel, at a ranch near Benson and at Elfrida.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Ida Fuhrman, 646 Eighth St., his father, Claude B. Adams of Elfrida; his stepfather, Ray Fuhrman, five brothers, a twin Billy Joe, Claude Jr., Lloyd, Floyd, Frank, all at home except Claude who is in the Navy at Point Magoo near Los Angeles; three sisters, Mrs. Ray Miller of Fairview Addition, Mrs. Wayne Sprngstead and Mrs. Andy Campbell, both of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; his grandmother, Mrs. Ava Webb, Valley Farms near Coolidge; two uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Webb, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Miller, all Valley Farms.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Brown-Page chapel. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery."
