CHARLES MILBURN CROSS, 85, died Wednesday at Community Care Center, Wabash.
Born in Huntington County, he was a National Guard member and had been a farmer and school bus driver for 30 years.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Marie; two sons, Joe of Spartanburg, S.C., and Jack of Delphi; three daughters, Peggy Sue Downey of West Lafayette, Carla Cross of Wabash and Angie Reed of LaFontaine; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Harriet Zachwieja of Arcadia, Fla., Mary Ruth Arnold of Fort Wayne and Louise Warner of Billings, Mont.
Services at 2 p.m. Saturday at Treaty Church of Christ, Treaty, with calling an hour before services. Calling also from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McDonald Funeral Home, Eddingfield Chapel, Wabash. #Burial at IOOF Cemetery, LaFontaine. Memorials to the church or Wabash County Fire Department paramedic fund.

WABASH — Charles Milburn Cross, 85, 1973 Glendale Drive, died at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Community Care Center. He was born on May 21, 1914, in Huntington County to Milburn and Mabel (Reeder) Glass Cross. He married Alice Marie Barnes on March 4, 1939; she survives.
He was a farmer and drove a school bus for 30 years. He served in the Howitzer Company 151st Infantry of the National Guard. He was a member of the Treaty Church of Christ and sang solos in area churches for 70 years. He was a 4-H club leader for 30 years.
Also surviving are two sons, Joe (Nancy) Cross, Spartanburg, S.C., and Jack (Donna) Cross, Delphi; two daughters, Peggy Sue Downey, West Lafayette, and Carla Cross, Wabash; an adopted daughter, Angie (Larry) Reed, LaFontaine; three sisters, Harriet Zachwicja, Arcadia, Fla., Mary Ruth (Melvin) Arnold, Fort Wayne, and Louise (Art) Warner, Billings, Mont.; granddaughter, Karen (Troy) Goley, Indianapolis; five grandsons, Scott (Laura) Downey, Casey Cross and Kyle Cross, all of West Lafayette, Trent (Pam) Downey, Morristown, and Shawn Cross, Chesnee, S.C.; and seven great-grandchildren. A sister is deceased.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Treaty Church of Christ, Treaty. Scott Saltsman will officiate. Burial will be in LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the McDonald Funeral Home Eddingfield Chapel, and one hour prior to services at the church. Preferred memorials are to the Wabash County Fire Department Paramedic Fund or Treaty Church of Christ.
