W.S. DeBolt Dead
well-known and respected citizen
died of heart failure
at Revival Meeting

Just before the afternoon service started at the tabernacle last Sunday, Wyatt S. DeBolt, who was among the first to arrive at the building, was seen to fall over in his seat. Several persons rushed to him and efforts were made to revive him while a doctor was sent for, but he old gentleman died immediately. The body was taken to the home of son, E. A. DeBolt.

The deceased had been converted a few days before his death in the building in which he died, and Sunday morning, just a few hours before his death, he united with the Presbyterian Church. His passing was gentle, just as his whole life had been, quiet, patient, and pleasant. He lived to an advanced age, and was loved and respected by all, for he was a devoted husband, a kind father and true friend to all. None ever entered his home without a warm welcome nor left without feeling the warmth of genuine hospitality. He was a man in every sense of the word. He had been a regular attendant at the meetings and thoroughly enjoyed them, and just before he died, he was laughing and talking with the parties near him. He had taken dinner a short time before with his son Elmer and family and ate heartily and was in good spirits. And while his passing was sad, his death was beautiful-and surely a most fitting time for pure spirit to take its flight heavenward.

Funeral services were held yesterday at two o'clock in the Presbyterian Church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Harry Curtis. Interment was in the Altoona (KS) Cemetery. Wyatt Saunders DeBolt was born in Butler County, Ohio, August 10, 1835, aged eighty-five years, five months and thirteen days. He moved from Ohio to Iowa in early life. He later moved to Indiana, and in 1892 moved from Indiana to Kansas. He has lived in and near Altoona for twenty-nine years. He was married September 23, 1858 to Elizabeth (Lizzie) Jerusha Silvey, who departed this life January 8, 1917. To this union were born five children, Mrs. Fannie Harbert, Leslie and Elmer, who reside in Altoona, and Mrs. Anna DeBolt Kinnett and Michael H. DeBolt, who died in 1901 and 1890, respectively.
. There are two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Trichler and Mrs. Anna Ewing of Greensburg, Indiana, and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. DeBolt was one of eleven children.
