James T. Bell, age 6, lived in Woodville, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory with his parents, Robert S. & Ezetta B., ages 49 & 29. His parents had been married 10 years; his mother had given birth to 4 children - only 3 were living. His father was a general merchandise salesman. His siblings were Benjamin C., age 8, & Addie, 1.

Ben's father died in Woodville on July 23, 1907.

On April 23/24, 1910,
James, age 15, lived with his widowed, mother, Rettie Bell, age 37, who owned a farm in in Odell, Marshall Co, OK. His mother had given birth to 5 children, but only 3 were living: Ben & Addie, ages 18 & 11. James & his brother, Ben, helped support their family by home farming.

James married Nora Etta Lemmons in Woodville, I.T. on February 27, 1914.

They were living in Temple, TX when their daughter, Ruby Ellen, was born on September 18, 1916. They lived in Sherman, Grayson Co, TX when their son, Eugene Thomas, was born on May 27, 1920. Tommy arrived three years later.

James, age 23, & Nora, were living in Sherman, TX when he registered for the WWI draft on June 5, 1917. He had a job at a Texas Nursery Company. The record showed that he was born in Woodsville, OK on March 2, 1894. He was described as medium height and build with dark brown eyes and black hair. He had a broken arm and ankle. He signed his name "Jim Bell." Later records indicated that he wasn't called to serve.

On February 6, 1920,
James & Nora Bell, ages 25 & 24, lived in Sherman Precinct 5, Grayson Co, TX. Their daughter, Ruby E., was 3 years & 5 months old. James had a job as an Assistant Timekeeper in a Railroad shop.

On April 3, 1930,
James & Norah, ages 36 & 35, owned a home on W. Texas in Sherman, Grayson Co, TX, valued at $1500. James was the Chief Clerk in a Rail Road Shop. Their children were:
Ruby Bell 13
Eugene Bell 9
Tommy Bell 7

James's brother-in-law, Joe Lemmons, age 15, lived with them.
