David Lester Hopper, 80, resident of Okmulgee, died in Tulsa on March 5, 2009. David was born on November 25, 1928 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Lester Floyd and Viola (Cloud) Hopper. On April 11, 1952 he married Peggy Jean Webb in Ft. Smith Arkansas. David loved country music and played the steel guitar. He was a Red Cross volunteer for many years, was on the board of the Deep Fork Community Action Community, and worked the elections at the county fairgrounds. David was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, on December 20, 2006, a brother, and grandson, John Blackley. He is survived by four children; Linda Graham and husband James of Okmulgee, David Hopper and wife Rhonda of Okmulgee, Gay Lynn Blackley and husband Mark of Glenpool, and Michael Wayne Hopper of Oklahoma City, two sisters, one brother, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Services will be at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Viewing will be on Monday from 12:00 – 8:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
