Raymond Lonnie Pitts, 84 of Grand Ridge died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Jackson Hospital.
Mr. Pitts was a native of Kinard, FL. He served in the US Army during WWll, then served in the Army Air Corp. He has lived most of his life in Jackson County where he was a truck driver for Lehigh Furniture for more than 30 years. He was of the Assembly of God faith.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, David E. Jackson; a sister, Eva Flowers ; two brothers, F.M. Pitts and Ed Pitts and his parents, Albert and Susie Pitts.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gladys E. Pitts; a son, Buddy Pitts of Pace, FL., two daughters, Dianne Hobbs and husband, Ralph of Grand Ridge, FL, and Dolores Lipford and husband, Doise of Marianna, FL., two sisters, Maude Cain of Kinard, FL and Louella Pickron of Wewahitchka, FL. ; eight grandchildren, John Jackson, Denise Blair, LeAnne Fried, Shannon Bedner, Brannon Pitts, Chad Hobbs, Kimberly Lowery and David Lipford; eleven great grandchildren: Alaina Riley, Tony Nelson, Daniel Jackson, Casey Nelson, Jacob Blair, Eva Blair, Hunter Bedner, Allie Fried, Ashlyn Pitts, Luke Fried and Dallas Lowery; one great-great granddaughter: Emma Riley
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Sneads Assembly of God Church with Pastor Juno Douglas and Bill Mayo officiating. Burial will follow in Sunny Hill Cemetery near Altha with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends Saturday, from 6-8 p.m. at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
