Janet Abbott Nelson, 1945–2009. Our sweet and loving mother and grandmother, Janet Abbott Nelson, returned to her Father in Heaven on Monday, March 2, 2009, at the age of 63. She was born on November 30, 1945 in Payson, Utah, to Medford Abbott and Kathryn White. She enjoyed her time growing up in Payson with her four sisters and brother.
She was married to Brent L. Davis and Steven A. Nelson. Janet and Brent brought into the world three sons, Jeffery, Bryon, and Michael. Janet and Steven brought into this world, a son, Brandon.
Janet and Steven raised their four children in Spanish Fork, where they made many fond memories. Janet's greatest joy in life was her family. She loved family outings, track and field, competitive sports, music, dancing, caring for others, raising her boys, loving on her grandchildren, shopping for bargains, time with friends, cooking, and sewing. She was a very strong willed and independent woman with a wonderful personality; possessing dignity, grace, flawless beauty, and a special loving touch. She lived for her family.
Janet devoted her life to raising her children, ensuring she raised them to be gentlemen and productive members of society. She invested countless hours into her home, beautifying her landscape with numerous improvement projects and keeping the interior spotless.
Janet was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, fulfilling various callings throughout her life. Janet will be missed in the community, especially her warm smile and laughter.
She is survived by her three children, Jeffery L. Nelson, Payson, UT; Bryon D. Nelson, San Antonio, TX; Brandon S. Nelson, Layton, UT; and 13 grandchildren. Janet is also survived by her sisters, Lucille (Bert) Argyle; Joy (Bill) Abbott Orr; Judy (John) Romero; and a brother, Kenneth (Margine) Abbott. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael J. Nelson; her parents, Medford D. and Kathryn Abbott; and her sister, Kathie A. Lake.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spanish Fork 12th Ward Chapel, 1150 East 1240 South, Spanish Fork, Utah. Family and friends may call at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
