He and Minnie Loughridge were married on December 24, 1933. They lived with his parents for awhile before they moved to a house on the road to Springhill Cemetery. Their son Hoyt Lyndell Barnard was born there on September 30, 1935. Calvin & Minnie moved to California in 1937, but his father passed away and he returned to help his mother with the farm. Their Daughter Roseanna Rebecca was born May 18, 1940. After World War II started farming was poor and jobs were scarce in Arkansas, so they packed up and moved to California again. Calvin and Minnie both went to work for the aircraft defense plants near Los Angeles. Later they moved to Ventura County and worked on a ranch. Vacations were spent in Arkansas as Calvin loved to fish here. With twelve brothers and sisters in his family and nine in Minnie's family, they still had plenty left to visit.

Hoyt and Roseanna went to Ventura Schools and graduated from Ventura High School. Hoyt in 1958 and Rosanna in 1958. Hoyt married Frances "Frankie" Overstreet on June 16th, 1956 in Yuma, Arizona. Rosanna had two children Scott James Van DeMark born February 3, 1959, and Judy Louise Vint born August 13, 1962. Hoyt and Frankie moved to Arkansas in 1970 and their sons graduated from Booneville High School.

Calivin and Minnie retired and returned to Arkansas in 1972 and built a home in Havana. They returned to California in 1982 to be with their daughter who passed away that same year. They sold their house in Havana and stayed there. Calvin passed away in 1983. He and Rosanna are buried in the Springhill Cemetery. Hoyt works for Marshall Construction in Boonweville, and Frankie had worked in the county clerk's office for eight years. Greg married in October 1985 Lynn Price of Hazen Arkansas and moved to Arlington, Texas, where they are employed in the hotel business.
