George Richard Simpson passed peacefully away on March 2, 2009. George was 89 years old. He was born in Hopkinton, NY on May 30, 1919. George graduated from Carthage High School, Carthage, NY. He attended Cornell University, Ithaca, NY until he enlisted in the Army Signal Corps during World War II. George was a Captain and served in the Pacific Theatre from 1941 to 1946. George retired in 1980 as vice president of finance for the GTE phone company. He and his wife enjoyed many years of traveling throughout the United States. They made many lifelong friends across the US as members of the Bluejays Jayco Club, CNY. George is survived by his sons, Calvin (Jean) Taylor and Dean (Marilyn) Taylor; his daughter-in-law, Elaine Taylor; nine grandchildren, Timothy (Kathleen), Thomas (Michelle), Todd, Tracy (Nick Caiello), Tara, Tricia, Therese, Patrick and Jeffrey; and his great grandson, Kai Taylor, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, June Taylor Simpson; his two sons, George Montgomery and Thomas Simpson; his parents, George and Elizabeth Simpson; his brothers, Kenneth, Robert, and Frank Carlton; and sisters, Vivian MacMullen, Gladys Peddler, Mary Young and Gertrude Simpson. George was a member of the Amber Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, Parishville NY. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association, the Amber Lodge, or a charity of your choice. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Delaney-Greabell-Adydan Funeral Home, 241 Kinne Street, East Syracuse, NY. Services will follow the calling hours. Internment will be at St. Mary's Mausoleum.
