He was the son of the late John Roscoe Holder and Junia Ellen Sasser Holder. He was in the printing industry for more than 40 years and retired as plant manager for Holladay Tyler Printing Corp. of Rockville, Md. He served with the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949 in the 82nd Airborne Division, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal.

He is survived by a son and daughter, two grandchildren, two sisters, and nieces and nephews of Dillon, S.C., Cary, N.C., Durham, N.C., and Flint, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, E. Marie Bauer Holder; brothers, John Frank Holder and Daniel Thomas Holder; and sister, Elizabeth Holder Delay.
