Born in Salt Lake City on April 14, 1914 to Andrew Fredrick Elggren and Martha M. Christensen.
Attended Ensign Elementary and graduated from L.D.S. High School. After graduation Dorothy attended the University of Utah then furthered her education in California where she graduated from Madam Sharets School of Fashion Design. Returning to Salt Lake, she ran a small design and dress making shop.
She joined the family business as the executive secretary of Elggren Brothers & Co., where she worked until retirement. During World War II, she began volunteering for the American Red Cross and did so for over 50 years. She was an extremely kind and generous soul who always put others before herself. She also volunteered for many years at the Veteran's Hospital, where she made many good friends.
Dorothy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved and was well-respected by her many nieces and nephews. She was a true animal lover and had many dogs and cats throughout the years.
A Memorial Service in her honor will be held on March 5, 2009 at 12:00 noon at Garner Funeral Home, 1001 East 11th Avenue, where she will be interred immediately following the services.
