Daughter of Caleb S. and Rosabelle (Graves) Stewart. Married Kernal A. Drake

Edna Sophie Stewart was born at Clifton, Kansas on July 31, 1880 and died at Clifton, Kansas, April 7, 1950, at the age of 69 years eight months and six days. She was the daughter of Caleb and Rose Belle Graves Stewart. She received her education in the Clifton school and graduated from Clifton High School in 1899. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Clifton at an early age and always took an active part in its worship. She taught for years in the Sunday School, was secretary for many years and was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday school class. Her church was the center of her thought throughout her lifetime. Even to the last she maintained her faith in her Christ and with that triumphant faith she went to her eternal home.
On April 12, 1911 she married Kernel Drake of Clifton, Kansas and to this union one son, William Henry, was born, who died in infancy.
Mrs. Drake was blessed with that faculty of friendship and neighborliness that endeared her to all those she came in contact. Her thoughts seemed to always be for others. When she was fifteen years old her mother passed away leaving her the care of the home.
She was always cheerful and willing to help others in time of need and may the memory of her life be held sacred in all our hearts.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her brother, Willis Stewart, her sister, Stella Stewart, niece, Emma Belle Meenen, grand nephews, Donald Wayne and Edward Alton, and niece Dora Wanda Meenen, aunt, Anna Graves, besides other relatives, friends and neighbors. She will be greatly missed in the community. Peace to her soul.
The two songs sung by Mrs. Roy Mowry and Mrs. Burton Know accompanied by Mrs. Adolph Rogge, "Going Down the Valley" and " In the Garden".
The pall bearers were Axel Peterson, Emery Peterson, Joe Haynes, Jacob Dallen, Floyd D. Cassity and Harry VanScoyk. Interment was in the Clifton Cemetery in the family plot.
