"He had been captured by the Japanese and was in the infamous "Bataan Death March" he survived this awful experience and with a practice often done during the war by the Japanese as the camps were about to be overrun by the allies prisoners were placed on JAPANESE MARKED SHIPS with no markings that they were hospital or prisoner ships the ship that JOSEPH SCOTT BELL was aboard was sunk by the allies in the Philippines"
