Miss Irena Edwards, oldest child of Wm Edwards, was born in McDonald Co., Mo. Feb. 16, 1861. She died at her home near Hiwasse, Ark. Feb. 10, 1922, lacking only six days of being sixty-one years old. She came with her parents to Benton County, Ark. when small and has spent most all her life here. She was married to G.B. Jones Oct. 18, 1883, the Eld. J.W. West officiating. To this union was born thirteen children, four of them having passed on in their infancy. The nine surviving were with their mother during her last illness except Mrs. Dosia Haysler of Webb City, Mo. who could not come. And were all at the funeral except Mrs. Anna Russell of Wellston, Okla. and Lester Jones of Elk City, Kan. Irena was converted at the age of fourteen years and untied with the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church near her father's home and was a faithful member of the church at the time of her death. She was possessed of a tender heart, a strong faith in God and was always cheerful. She was prompt to offer services to anyone who was sick or in distress thruout the neighborhood in which she lived. Though seriously afflicted, physically, for several months, she never complained of her condition. Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Pleasant on Saturday by her Pastor Eld. J.E.
