FELL AGAINST FREIGHT TRAIN
Sustained Fractured Skull and Passes Away Without Regaining Consciousness
Andrew Bitter, of 2250 Washington street, 91 years old, succumbed to injuries sustained Sunday morning at 7:30 o'clock when struck by a Chicago Great Western freht train near Sanford avenue. Following the accident he was rushed to Mey hospital, where he died without regaining consciousness.
Mr. Bitter had been been to church and was on his way home when the accident occured. He was walking along the tracks, it is said, and because of his feeble condition fell against the train as it was passing him. he was unconscious to the end.
the deceased had resided in Dubuque since 18??, coming here from St. Louis.
He is survived by seven sons, Henry, Albert, Anton, and John of Dubuque; Joseph of Spokane Falls, Wash., and Edward of Sioux City; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Vogeler of Perry, Ia., and Mrs. Peter Specht of Dubuque.
The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock from the residence, 2250 Washington street, to Sacred Hehurch, thence to Mt. Calvary.
