Ailene Beasley Sears, 77 years of age, passed away on Wednesday February 25, 2009 at her home. Ailene was a devoted wife to her husband, Anthony Sears, with their marriage spanning 59 years. They were partners in every way and she supported him in his jobs as a minister, educator, and social worker, while also being a wonderful mother to her 4 children, Retha Coleman (Fred), Melinda Hare(Bob), Tim(Ellen), and Jon Sears.

She loved spending time with her 11 grandchildren; Ashley Williams, Courtney Coleman, Phillip and Max Hare, Caleb, Benjamin, and Addison Sears, Brian, Katie, Ben, and Emily Sears, and 2 great grandchildren' Coleman and Chandler Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Elizabeth Beasley, brothers, James, Raymond, and Herbert Beasley, and a sister, Helen Sears.

She always made sure there were cards for every special occasion and trips to the toy store, as well having the cookie jar well stocked. Her talents were many as a cook, quilter, and seamstress. The smell of Sunday dinner with fried chicken and mashed potatoes, and her special dinner rolls will be missed along with all of her delicious deserts.

She was a terrific first teacher for each of her children and her love for reading and puzzles are a legacy to her children and grandchildren. Her willingness to learn new things was evident as she learned to drive in her late 30's, went to work for Young World Children's Clothing Store, and eventually did the monogramming for the store. She was always game for an adventurous camping trip with her husband and children, and she loved traveling with her husband on trips out west and to Edisto Beach with extended family. The beach was her favorite place to be.

The family would like to thank all of those who cared for Aileen the past 4 years. Rennie, Robin, and especially Terri, who provided her with love, attention and respect. We are so blessed that you cared for her as if she were your own family. Our heartfelt gratitude and thanks also goes to the wonderful nurses and staff with Lifeline and Hospice. You helped make her last days as comfortable as possible and treated her with incredible dignity and respect. Dr. Nasim, thank you for giving us 4 more years with our wife and mother, and to Dr. Alison Cherry, her internist.

Visitations were held at the Somerset Undertaking & Crematory funeral home on Friday, February 27th, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
