D, 38TH IND INF on Sept. 18, 1861; listed sick at Nashville, July 30, 1862; sent home on medical furlough & later discharged, date unknown; married Miss Margaret Ellen May (1848-1920) on Nov. 24, 1872 in Orange Co., IN; children: Hannah M. (b. 1873), Mary Jane (b. 1875), Edward (b. 1878), Clara D. (b. @1893), and Eliza J. (b. @1895)

The funeral of Nathan Newby will be conducted from the Home on North O street tomorrow forenoon at 10 o’clock instead of tomorrow afternoon as first announced.
Burial will be in the Mitchell cemetery.
