Services for William Ernest "Ernie" Moe of
McMinneville will be held at 11:00am Wednesday
in the Chapel of Macy and Son Funeral Directors
with the Rev. Bob Kuykendall officiating.
Internment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Mr Moe died June 30,1989 in the Careousel Care
Center. He was 98.
He was born in Council, Idaho, the son of William
and Kate Harper Moe. He was educated and spent
his boyhood in Alpine, Idaho.
He arrived in Oregon in 1909 on horseback after
riding 450 miles. He worked as a shepherd until
1913.
Mr. Moe and Marie Voegeli were married in 1913
in McMinnville. He then started dairy farming
in the Poverty Bend area. His wife preceded him
in death in 1950. They had one daughter Rachel
that died as an infant.
In 1931 Mr. Moe won second Place in butterfat
production in the National Dairy Association.
He and Hinley Burns were marred in 1953. She
preceded him in death in 1968.
He was a 60 year member of the IOOF. He also
was a member of the three man committee that
picked the first set of Farmers Cooperative
Creamery officers in McMinnville.
We knew him as Cousin Ernest.
He was my mothers cousin and the
nicest man you would ever want
to meet. He was in World War 1
