Floyd James Herlin, age 72, died January 26, 1998 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. He resided at 4522 West 4895 South in the Hoffman Heights neighborhood of Kearns, Utah at the time of his death.
Born April 18, 1925 in Salt Lake City, son of Mauritz Arnold and Leone Elizabeth Hooper Herlin. Married Della Faye McCleve on March 14, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; she preceded him in death on July 26, 1997. Graduated from the University of Utah with a Masters Degree in Accounting. Active member of the LDS Church, where he held many callings, including Bishop of the Kearns 4th Ward. Served a mission to New Zealand from 1946-1949, and then again from 1989-1990 with his wife. Worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation as their Payroll Supervisor in the Salt Lake Office for 35 years. Served as Sargent in the US Army from July 1943-January 1946. He was an Eagle Scout, loved to travel, and he provided very well for his family.
Survived by sons, Floyd James (Connie) Herlin, Jr., Russell K. Herlin, both of Kearns; Carl T. (Jeannine) Herlin, West Jordan; Robert D. Herlin, West Valley; daughter, Kendra L. Herlin, Kearns; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Melvin (Eugenia) Herlin, Laguna Niguel, CA., Wayne (Joan) Herlin, Orem; sister, Loene (Robert) Farnsworth, Los Angeles, CA. Preceded in death by parents, and one sister. Special thanks to Dr. Spencer Jones, Central Valley Dialysis Center, Katie Howard, and all the other nurses and aides at IHC Home Health Care.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 12 noon, at the Kearns 4th Ward, 4620 West 5015 South. Friends may call Friday, 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
