OTTUMWA - Patricia Irene "Pat" McBeth, 69, formerly of rural Ottumwa, died at 1:55 a.m. June 4, 1999, at Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.

She was born Jan. 19, 1930, in Eddyville to Virgil and Thelma Wilson McCombs. She married Archie McBeth on Feb. 21, 1953.

She lived in Ottumwa most of her life. She was head nurse of pediatrics at Ottumwa Hospital for 16 years, retiring in 1976.

She was a member of Free Methodist Church and a former member of First Church of the Nazzarene, where she had taught Sunday School. She was a charter member and served on the board of Hi-Tech Credit Union, past president and secretary of Wapello County Association for Retarded Children, a past board member of the Center of Hope, and had been a volunteer for Hospice.

She is survived by her husband; five daughters, Peggy Walker of Hedrick, Connie Ward of Fremont, Carolyn Ekwall of Cedar Rapids, Shirley Besco of Eddyville and Nita Berger of Franklin, N.C.; a son, Tom McBeth of Ottumwa; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas McCombs of West Palm Beach, Fla; and a sister Kaye McCombs of Knoxville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jack McCombs; and a sister, Donna Jameson.

The service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Revs. Joseph Shimko and Grover Branson officiating. Burial will be in Helms Cemetery near Fremont.

Visitation will begine at 9 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Tenco and Bloomfield Care Center.
