PANHANDLE - Helen Bonner Meaker, 80, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, in Carson County.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Zimmerman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Mrs. Meaker was born Aug. 21, 1928, in Panhandle, and she had been a lifelong resident of Carson County. She married Julius Meaker Jr. on Nov. 5, 1948, in Pampa, and he preceded her in death in 1979.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruth Bonner; three brothers, Bob Bonner, Norman Bonner and Roy Bonner; and a sister, Alice.

Survivors include three daughters, Carey Mackie and husband Richard of Pampa, Lynn McGregor and husband Wynn of Grapevine and Jo Meaker of Amarillo; two brothers, Jim Bonner and wife Jane of Amarillo and Johnny Bonner of Panhandle; two sisters, Margaret Shields and Veda Black, both of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Nicholas McGregor, Aaron McGregor, Ginna McGregor, Aly Mackie, Jack Mackie and Dock Mackie; and two great-grandchildren, Brady and Emily.

The family suggests memorials be to FFA, in care of Panhandle High School, P.O. Box 1030, Panhandle, TX 79068.
