Victor Baddour, part owner of 38 retail drygoods stores in Arkansas and Mississippi and Baddour Wholesale Drygoods Co. at 1960 Latham, died early yesterday at Baptist Hospital after a brief illness. He was 45. Services will be held at 2 this afternoon at the Whitehaven Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Forest Hill with Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis in charge. Mr. Baddour was born in Covington, Tenn. His family moved to Hughes, Ark., in 1927, and he moved here last October. In Hughes, he owned and operated a furniture and hardware store and was active in the town's church and civic affairs. Later, he entered the drygoods business and operated several stores in Arkansas with his brothers. It was in 1954 that Mr. Baddour, Paul Baddour and Charles Baddour, both of Whitehaven, opened the wholesale company. They had followed their father, the late M.D. Baddour, into the drygoods business in 1947. Most of the retail stores are known as Baddour's Bargain Centers. He and his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Baddour, made their home at 4664 Kassel in Whitehaven. He was a Presbyterian, a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. During World War II, he served with the Air Force. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. E.A. Saleeby of Salisbury, N.C., Dr. Marie Baddour of West Memphis, and Miss Marguerite Baddour of Whitehaven, and two other brothers, Dr., Frank Baddour of Lebanon, Tenn., and Fred Baddour of West Memphis.
