LACON -- Orpha McCombs Taylor, 81, of Monte Cassino Health Care in Toluca for the past two years, formerly of Lacon and Pekin, died at 8:53 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 1994, at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator. Born Nov. 11, 1913, in Browning to Aaron and Elizabeth Swisher Bollinger, she married William McCombs on Dec. 23, 1931, in Rushville. He died May 29, 1966. She married Rolland Taylor in 1977 in Mountain Home, Ark. He died in September 1981. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary, in February 1967, two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are two sons, Willard McCombs of Dahinda and William McCombs of Lacon; three daughters, Mrs. Merle (Donna) Jenkins of Lacon, Mrs. Ray (Carol) Jones of Channahon and Mrs. Stan (Evelyn) Twitty of Wasola, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Blaine Bollinger of Astoria. She was a burler at Lacon Woolen Mill for more than 20 years, retiring when the mill closed in 1966. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon. The Rev. Lester Burgard will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the memorial home. Burial will be in Lacon Cemetery in Lacon. Memorials may be made to any charity.
