Jewel married Mr Averett after Marvin Dunnahoe's death. Her youngest daughter, Shirley Dunnahoe, was one of my dearest friends and I spent many nights at their house, waking up to the smell of bacon and buttermilk biscuits. Ms Dunnahoe always had a big smile and was such a joy to be around.

Jewel Dunnahoe Averett, 82, of Rohwer, died Saturday, Oct 1, at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in McGehee. She was the widow of Leonard Averett and a member of Kelso Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, J.C. Dunnahoe of Rohwer and Clarence Dunnahoe of Gould; two daughters, Lavon Matthews of Washburn, North Dakota and Shirley Rentfro of Dardanelle; four sisters, May Anglin, Violet Driver and Florence Ross, all of Pine Bluff, and Eva Williams of Tillar; 8 grandchildren; and 13 grest-grandchildren. Services were held 2:30 P.M. Monday, Oct 3, at Kelso Baptist Church, with Dr. Sardis Bever officiating. Burial was in Kelso Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gus Wilson, Cecil Simpson Jr., George "Red" Weaver, Louis Stratton, Larry Don Files and Irving McElroy.
