He was born the son of William and Lily Taylor Cullers on February 28, 1911, in Lexington, Illinois. He married Marian Leslie on August 27, 1932 in Bloomington, IL. She preceded him in death on November 29, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Merle and Glen Cullers; four sisters, Mattie Jenkins, Hattie Witt, Elva Carr and Myrtle Glatz.
Mr. Cullers was a carpenter and retired from Capital Wood Works. He was a member of the Carpenters Local Number 216. He was also a member of Knox Presbyterian Church and past member of the Eagles.
He is survived by sons: Leslie (wife, Nancy) Cullers of Iowa City, IA, Jerry Cullers of Pawnee, IL, Larry (wife, Sharon) Cullers of Springfield, IL, and Roger (wife, Doris) Cullers of Petersburg, IL; one daughter, Sharon (husband, Eugene) Moreski of Phoenix, AZ. There are several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Sons Funeral Home, 505 East Allen, Springfield, IL where the family will meet friends from 9:30 until time of service at 10:30 AM Saturday, February 28, 2009. Burial will follow services at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Reverend Vaughn Beeman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association Illinois Chapter or American Heart Association Greater Midwest Affiliate.
