Verna married Harry Katzenbarger in 1938, who survived her. However, Verna was buried under the name "Verna F. Hufford." Her ex-husband Jess was interred next to her, and they share one grave stone.

She leaves her husband, Harry Katzenbarger of the the home; five sons; Ernest Hufford, also of the home; Ed Hufford, Turner, Kas.; Louis Hufford, 738 South Fourteenth street; Stanley Hufford, 732 South Fourteenth street, and Raymond Hufford, 1236 Lowell avenue; a daugher, Mrs. Frank Miller, 1218 Hardesty avenue; two brothers, five sisters, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funderal services will be held a 2 o'clock Friday at the Simmons chapel in Kansas City, Kansas.
