Arthur Oliver, a life-long resident of the Avon community, died at the Sacred Heart hospital at Yankton last Thursday morning, September 20, at 4:30. Mr. Oliver's health had been gradually failing for some time, until he was finally forced to discontinue farming and he and Mrs. Oliver moved to Avon last spring. Mr. Oliver was born may 10, 1886, on the old home place located seven and one-half miles south of Avon. He spent his youth in that community, and on February 20, 1917, he was united in marriage to Miss Laura Watwood. They were the parents of four children, the oldest son dying in infancy. He is survived by his wife, living in Avon, two daughters and one son, as follows: Erma, (Mrs. Clarence Powers); Lois (Mrs. Arthur Sattler); and Charles, all of Avon. Four sisters and one brother also survive. They are: Mabel (Mrs Arthur Luke), Tyndall; Sarah, (Mrs. Martin Ferwerda), Springfield; Marian (Mrs. O.D. Fees) Avon; Edna (Mrs. Peter Ferweda) Springfield; Loren of Yankton; one granddaughter Sharon Marie Powere. Three brothers and one sister preceded Mr. Oliver in death. Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon from the First Presbyterian Church in Avon, with the Rev. J.M> Dirks officiation, interment was in the Springfield cemetery.
