Born March 29, 1891, near Sealy, she taught school prior to her marriage to Earl Hardgrave on July 15, 1920, in Mertzon. She moved to Abilene from San Angelo in 1958. She was a member of University Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Claude Harkins of Bastrop; four sons, Earl Lee Hardgrave of Austin, Jack Hardgrave of Fort Stockton, Allen Wylie Hardrave of Goldthwaite and John Hardgrave of Sterling City; a sister, Mrs. Guy A. Scruggs of Abilene, three brothers, Robert N. Allen of Sanderson, Herman L. Allen of San Angelo and J.S. Allen of El Paso; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
