Guido enlisted in the army a few weeks before he was to get his law degree from KU so he worked and studied law with his father, Asa M. Smith and Uncle Verni Smith who had been practicing law for several years under the name of Smith & Smith Attorneys-At-Law.
Guido married Irma Bever, 4th child of Melville Ward and Lula Alice "Burg" Bever, June 26, 1921 at the Presbyterian Manse in Colby, Kansas.
Irma and Guido purchased the Colby Classic Ladies Store in 1946 and operated it until 1956. Guido suffered a fatal heart attack 6 weeks after they sold the store.
Children are: Donald Duane born June 1925; Diana Louise born May 11, 1927 and Murray Elwin born February 25, 1930.
