Titensor, Lydia (1) (3 Apr 1947)Star Valley Independent

Lydia Allen Titensor passed away at the home of her daughter, Sarah Stoker in Afton, Sunday Morning March 30, 1947. She was taken to Afton where she could have the very best care four weeks prior to her passing. However, her condition did not seem serious until the last ten days, after suffering a severe attack of flu.
Aunt Lydia as she was so favorably known, was born December 12,1867, at Oxford Idaho, the daughter of Sidney and Margarett A. Allen. Her childhood days were spent with her parents pioneering from one place to another through Idaho, Utah and Wyoming.
She was married to J. W. Titensor November 2nd 1885. Endowed at the Logan Temple February 16, 1888.
To this union were born seven children, three of whom preceded her in death, while she leaves a loving daughter, three sons, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one sister and one brother, along with a host of friends to mourn her passing.
Lydia came with her husband to settle in Star Valley April 1889, first settling north of the town of Thayne, later moving to the homestead where her son, Harold now lives. She lived on this place for 45 years, commencing her home life in a little one room cottage where most of her family were born suffering all the hardships and privations that go along with pioneer life. Later they built the home where Harold was born.
In 1935 she and her husband left the ranch and moved to the home in Thayne, where in May 1944 her husband passed away.
In the early part of Aunt Lydia's life, she never enjoyed very good health but as she grew older her health became better. She was a very capable, practiced nurse and never at any time did she ever say no when her services were needed. There are very few homes in the Lower Valley that can not recall some loving care she has rendered for some member in sickness.
Her home has always had an open door for all her friends and neighbors. Her greatest enjoyment in life was visiting with her family and friends, looking forward to just another trip in the mountains where her joy was complete.
The remains were taken to her home in Thayne Monday evening, and funeral services were held in the Church Wednesday April 2, 1947 at 1:00 p.m.
