Father Ernest R. Strahl, 81, died yesterday at St. Paul's Hermitage. He was a native of Leopold, a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and the retired pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon. He was ordained at St. Meinhard on Feb 2, 1945. In addition to serving at St. Joseph, he served at St. Patricks and Our Lady of Lourdes, both in Indianapolis, and St. Marks, St. Joseph and St. Johns churches in Perry County. He made and gave away more han 6000 rosaries, and wrote a book called "My Three Loves" about his life and the history of St. Augustine Church in Leopold. Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Schneider of Evansville and Augusta Rogier of Tell City; and 34 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. Pauls Hermitage Chapel. Visitation there will be after 9 a.m. tomorrow. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Josephs in Corydon with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 9 p.m. Thursday at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Corydon and at the church after 9 a.m. Friday.
