DEATHS.
There were two funerals in Manti on Monday. Mrs. Margaret Kirkwood Reid, mother of Attorney W. K. Reid, died Saturday, the 9th inst., of stomach troubles and old age infirmities. Deceased was born in Ireland, near Belfast, in 1826, and emigrated to this country with her husband, John P. Reid, in 1872. The family came direct to Manti and have lived here ever since. Mrs. Reid was the mother of thirteen children, seven of whom survive her. There are seventy-four grand children and twenty-four great-grand children. Three of the children live in Manti, one in Orangeville, Utah, one in Nevada, and two in Canada. Deceased was a faithful Latter-Day Saint and passed through the trials and hardships of pioneer life in Utah without a murmur. She was true to her convictions and reared her large family in honor. Her friends were as many as her acquaintance, and her death caused universal sorrow. The funeral services were held in the Tabernacle Monday afternoon. There was a large turn out to pay their last respects to their departed friend and mother. The speakers were Prest. John B. Maiben, M. F. Farnsworth, Prest. McAllister and Bishop Petersen.
