Dewey William Camp was a band director for most of his life throughout Mississippi and at LSU. He travelled with his jazz band to Europe and marched through Mardi Gras every year with his marching band. He was the manager and developer of Cleary Heights Sub Division in Florence, Rankin, Mississippi where he created over a dozen lakes (including Hoover Lake) as well as a country club, 27 hole golf course, tennis courts and a now thriving residential community.
