SUSANNAH (SUKEY) SHELTON
Susannah Shelton, the second child of Lewis, was born March 4, 1785 in South Carolina/Franklin Co., Georgia border. Sukey is a nickname for Susannah from Dickens and is the name listed in her father’s will. She died May 2, 1859 in Ashley, Washington County, Illinois. She married John Eubanks on January 29, 1806 in Jackson County, Georgia, solemnized by James Hendrix JJC brother of Nancy Hendrix who married Susannah’s brother David.

John was born about 1780 in Virginia and died February 13, 1857 in Ashley, Washington County, Illinois. He had married first to Elizabeth Strickland in 1803. It is unknown at this time what happened to his first wife. There was one child from that union.

While in Jackson County, Georgia their children, Nancy S (b. 11/16/1806) and Sarah Catherine (b. 2/14/1808) were born.
Susannah and John then moved to Lincoln Co. Tennessee after December 12, 1808 where their son Spencer was born 5/13/1814. This is also where David and Nancy Shelton were residing. If we go by the letter of John Shelton, then David & Nancy were already living there and John and Susannah joined them at some point. Spencer was also born about the time that David died.

Sometime after 1816 and before 1820 they moved to Alabama. Two of their children were born there. In 1824 we find them in Carroll Co. Tennessee. Over the next couple of years we find them in Washington and Maury Co. Tennessee. Finally around 1830 they move to Washington Co. Illinois where their next three children are born.

Children of SUSANNAH SHELTON and JOHN EUBANK are:
1. NANCY S. EUBANK; b. November 16, 1806 Jackson Co, GA; d. 1887 San Joaquin, Fresno Co. CA. She married WILLIAM WILSON HALL who was born March 4, 1804 in Franklin Co. Georgia. They married in 1823 at the age of 17 in Illinois. They are found in the 1830 Washington Co., Illinois census right next door to the Eubanks. They resided in Illinois until after 1843 when they moved to Missouri. By 1857 they moved and are living in Stanislaus Co. CA.
a. The first child recorded in the 1860 census is ELIJAH DAVIS HALL b. abt 1833 in Illinois. This is 10 years after she was married but no record of other children born during this period has been found. He is living with the family in the 1860 Stanislaus Co. CA census. He is last listed in California Register in 1866. After that date no listing anywhere.
b. JOHN HALL b. 4/1840 in Illinois. D. 1907 in San Joaquin Co., CA. He married ESTELLA JANE HUNTLEY b. 9/1847 in Pike County, Illinois and died 1932 in San Joaquin, CA. She is buried at Burnwood Cemetery, Escalon, CA along with her husband.
