She was born April 1, 1917, in Springfield, the daughter of Frank and Goldie M. Merrick Honigman. She married LaVern H. Coleman on Aug. 24, 1945; he preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1975.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Frances "Sanny" Wilcox and a brother, Ralph Honigman.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (husband, Bob) Heitz of Loami; a son, Charles (wife, Shirlee) Coleman of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Bridget (husband, Joey) Burshears, Brooke and Michael Heitz, Tracee, Christine, Patrick, Andrew and Benjamin Coleman; two great-grandchildren, Maddie Burshears and Shelby Clever; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Goldie was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She worked as a homemaker.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. David Hoefler officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Regency Nursing Care Residence Memorial Scholarship Fund.
