She was born to Piotr Baliś I and Antonina née Oczkowska of Chrzanów. She was educated in a primary school in Chrzanów. In 1932 she married Władysław Brożek of Chrzanów. When WW2 broke out in September 1939 Agnieszka decided in panic, like thousands of other Poles, to flee eastwards along the congested roads mercilessly bombed by German Luftwaffe. She had reached a small town of Sądowa Wisznia near Lwów where she heard the news of Soviet invasion of Poland which made her reconsider further escape eastwards. She lost all her belongings and decided to return home. In 1947 she moved with her family to Jawiszowice where she spent the rest of her life. The couple had 4 children: Maria (1932-1935), Antoni (1937-2000), Stanisława (born 1938) and Wiesława (born 1940).
