Stanley Clarence McClean was the son of Thomas Howard McClean and Helen Louise (Nellie) Cornfield. He and his sister were raised in the Owen Sound area of Ontario. Their father, Thomas, joined the Canadian Expeditionary Forces during WW 1 and shipped off to Enland and France.

After the war, Thomas returned to Canada but he cut all ties with his family. Stan and his sister had a hard life with their mother and she passed away in 1942. No family members are aware of any details of Thomas' passing.

Stan married and had one son but this marriage ended sometime during WW 2.

He married a second time, moved to British Columbia where he and Margaret had four daughters. His second marriage ended and he moved to Edmonton, Alberta where he passed away.
