David P. Hester was raised on his parents' ranch east of Riverside, CA with four older siblings, Ben, John, Marian and Richard. David's father died when David was 5. When his mother remarried, David lived with his oldest brother Ben, Ben's son Jim Hester, and their brother Richard.

David was married to Mable Irene Dallas, in Roswell, NM, in 1947. Mable was my father's oldest sister. Mable and David had three daughters: Cora Ruth, Betty Jo and Jeannette Ellen Hester.

David was a helicopter pilot in the US Army, stationed in California.

David was killed when his helicopter crashed January 17, 1959, at Cathedral Peak, 14 miles from Hollister, CA. David, Mable and family lived at Ft. Ord, the area of Monterrey, California at the time of his death.
