Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Lou Sparrow Boone. Mrs. Ammons lived most of her life in the Green Hill community of Chesterfield County.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jack R. Alford of Hartsville; two sons, Jack Ammons Jr. of Greer and J.B. Ammons of Hartsville; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Howle of Hartsville and Mrs. Bert Gibson of Mt. Croghan; a brother, Samuel Boone of Columbia; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were Sunday in Prospect United Methodist Church, with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.
Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home was in charge.
