Sikeston - William Cecil Leigh, 85, of Sikeston died May 11, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born July 6, 1914, in Lonoke, Ark., son of Edward Ross and Mary Ethel Clement Leigh. He and Susie Mae Clayton were married May 4, 1940, at Caruthersville. She died June 9, 1991.
He had farmed in Mississippi County for many years. He received a Balanced Farming Award from St. Louis Chamber of Commerce in 1951.
He was a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church and member of its Immanuel Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Charleston Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star in Sikeston.
Survivors include two sons, Jim and Albert "Skip" Leigh; two daughters, Sue and Barbara Leigh; a brother, Charles Leigh; three sisters, Annie Spear, Mary Scott and Betty Jones; a friend, Margaret Alger; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, and nine great-great-step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.
