Walter James Roots, 2630 SW Chelmsford Ave., retired owner of W. J. Roots School Buses, died Saturday while in Newport. Born Sept. 8, 1886, in Clackamas, he spent his entire life in the Portland area.
Mr. Roots was a member BPOE Oregon City lodge, and the Imperial Lodge No. 159, AF&AM.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Walter Jr., Portland; two grandchildren, and one great- grandchild.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Caldwell's Colonial Mortuary, with entombment in Lincoln Memorial Mausoleum.
