HUGO LUHN DIES ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22, WAS NATIVE OF KENNEY

One of Kenney's best known natives, Hugo Luhn, died in the local hospital on Sunday, October 22, at 12:15 p.m. He had been in failing health for the past 11 months. Mr. Luhn was 78 years of age.

Funeral rites were held at 3 p.m. on Monday, October 23, at the Pete Etlinger funeral home in Bellville, with the Rev. A. J. Mohr officiating . Pallbearers were Robert Blum, Erwin Luhn, Erwin Henske, Ben Ueckert, Lee Kaechele and Rudolph Albrecht. Burial was at Oak Knoll.

Mr. Luhn was born in Kenney on October 16, 1872. He attended Kenney school and engaged in business in Kenney until his retirement.

On March 16, 1898, he was married to Miss Pauline Janssen in Bellville, who preceded him in death in 1905. He was later married to Miss Adele Johnson on June 1, 1929 in Temple.

Active in the affairs of his community, Mr. Luhn was a member of W.O.W. Lodge No. 2307 of Kenney, serving as secretary-treasurer for the past 40 years. He was prominently identified with the activities of the Kenney community all his life, and was especially devoted to out door activities, enjoying hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. L. M. Feyem of Wink and Miss Hazel Luhn of San Antonio; two sons, Burgess Luhn of Kenney and Norris Luhn of El Campo; a sister, Mrs. J. L. McNutt of Bellville; three brothers, Paul, Felix, and Theodore Luhn, all of Kenney; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
