Services for Alza L. "Al" Phillips, Sr., 58, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Beverly Shores Baptist Church with the Rev. Grover Meeks and the Rev. Jack Dell officiating. Burial will be in Brunswick Memorial Park.

Phillips, a resident of Brunswick, died Thursday after an extended illness.

He was a native of Wayne County and had resided in Glynn County for 58 years. He was a Baptist and a member of Boilermaker Local No. 26.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley C. Phillips of Brunswick; two sons, Mike Phillips and Buddy Phillips, both of Brunswick; two daughters, Alicia Wilson and Faye Lawrence, both of Brunswick; his mother, Adell Owen of Mount Pleasant; two sisters, Reatha Lane of Mount Pleasant and Lurlyne McRae of Oklahoma City, Ok.; nine grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Albert Erwin, Don Teston, Blake Coker, Gerald Nix, Wendell Boatright, Clifford Lee, Billy Lockhart and Neal Boatright. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Lockhart and Cliff Lee.

The family will be at the residence of Mike Phillips, 25 Wooley Place, Brunswick, and will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 o'clock tonight.
