Monroe (Comrade) Kessel Monroe (Comrade) Kessel, 95, resident of Bastrop, died, Friday, February 13, 2009. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Kessel and daughter, Linda Williams. He is survived by his beloved wife, Christene, of 66 years; two brothers, Dietrich Kessel and wife Loraine of Elgin, Albert Kessel of Bastrop; and sister, Marion Linder of Houston, Texas; his son, Terry and wife, Barbara Kessel; his daughter, Emily and son-in-law, John McPhaul; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was born on July 25, 1913, in Paige, Texas to Gerhard and Emily Kessel. Monroe loved life, his family and especially gardening. Services will be held at Marrs-Jones-Newby F.H. in Bastrop on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., with the interment following at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop.
