Parish records indicate Thorvald was born 28 Apr 1866 and christened 21 Oct 1866 in Aker Akershus, Vestre Aker parish. He was the sixth of seven children born to Tosten Erickson (Torsten Eriksen) & Karen Gudbrandsdatter Vik.

Thomas Erickson, aged 43 years, passed away at his home six miles from Stockett, Monday morning. The deceased was a well known rancher in that section of the country. The funeral will be held this afternoon, with services from the Methodist church in Red Butte, at 2 o'clock. Interment will take place in Red Butte cemetery. Pallbearers: H. Norum, Eric Lee, Tony Anderson, Severt Wick, Prer Haugen and John Ivenson.
