He was a salesman with Sisler Ford and more recently was with Buckeye Protective Service. He had lived most of his life in Canton. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lathrop Lodge #676 F&AM, Nazir Grotto, Stark Consistory 32nd degree Mason and Tadmor Shrine. Survived by wife, Jeanne (Firestone) Elder; a daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Diane) Morris of Louisville, KY; a son, Richard F. Elder of Royal Oak, MI; a sister, Mrs. Mary Weaver of ElPaso, TX; four grandchildren. Services Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Arnoled Funeral Home with Rev. John Bradosky officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Callers Monday 7-9 p.m.

Elder, 70, of 1734 Frazer Ave. N.W., Canton, formerly of Youngstown, who died Saturday morning in Timkin Mercy Medical Center after a six-week illness. Mr. Elder was born May 3, 1912, a son of Eli and Eva Elder, and had been a partner in the Trinity Chevrolet dealership in Youngstown from 1952 to 1964. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He leaves his wife, the former Jean Firestone, whom he married Dec. 10, 1936; a son, Richard F. of Royal Oaks, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Diane Morris of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Weaver of ElPaso, Texas; and four grandchildren.
