Mary Alice gave her life to her country when she died in the flu epidemic of 1918 while serving as a volunteer civilian
nurse at Ft Riley, Kansas. She left home on October 15 1918 to serve, at no pay, and just thirteen days later her body was returned to Mountain View for burial. She was a true American hero.

This is my mothers sister and I am very proud of her, and I want to make sure it is absolutely correct for future researchers. She had three additional siblings born after 1900, including my mother. They were-
Margaret May (Bosworth, Frantzen) 1900-1984
Hazel Ruth (Johnson) 1903-1986)
Clara Dorothy (Anderson) 1907-1989
