Anna Collett Smith, age 84, of Rock Springs, WY, died at her daughter's home on April 1, 2005.
She was born on March 8, 1921, in Vernal, Utah, the fourth child of Wiley S. and Erma Billings Collett. She attended schools in Lyman, WY, Manila, Utah, McKinnon, WY, and Mountain View, WY. She graduated from Mountain View High School with the class of 1937.
She then attended two years at the University of Wyoming where she received her teaching certificate in Elementary Education. She taught school for 36 years. She taught in Vernal, UT, McKinnon, WY, Manila, UT and Bountiful, UT, where she was teaching when she retired in 1985.
She married Daniel Alvin Smith on December 22, 1941 in McKinnon, WY. That union was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 12, 1966. He preceded her in death on August 18, 1985.
She is survived by five children: Dana (Alfred) Jereb of Rock Springs, WY; Cloyce (Pat) Smith of Woodruff, UT; Clayton Smith of Bountiful, UT; Lamont Smith of Orderville, UT; and Cheryl (Albert) Worley of Rock Springs, WY; two sisters Beth (A.E.) Sweatfield of Vernal, UT and LuRae (Eldon) Mortensen of Roosevelt, UT; sister-in-law Mary Collett of Kaysville, UT; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Don B. and Vene Collett, two sisters Vella Jackman and Alice Slaugh and great-grandson Bryan Robert Winslow, Jr.
There will be a viewing for family and friends at Vase Funeral Home in Rock Springs, WY, on Friday, April 8 from 4-7 p.m.
Funeral services will be in Vernal, UT at the Fifth Ward Chapel, 250 N 200 W, on Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m. with a viewing at the chapel from 11 a.m. until time of services. Interment will be in the Vernal City Cemetery.
