Preston Everett Ake, a Poet Laureate of the State of Florida, was born 31 Jul 1890 in Fort Wayne, Allen, Indiana, and died 12 Feb 1991 in Lake Wales, Polk, Florida. The first child of Samuel Ake and his wife, Della Clara McCormick, to survive infancy, he is buried near his father.

On 23 April 1912, Preston married Vera Dale Scott (1895-1973) in Wasepi, St. Joseph County, Michigan. His address was Blackshear, Georgia, where he was living with his father. The couple settled in Fort Wayne and had three children: Robert Scott "Robin" Ake (1913-1985), Della Ellen Ake (1914-2006) and Richard Samuel Ake (1918-2001).

Press' second wife, Dorothy Velma Hoy whom he married before 1930, predeceased him and is also buried at Mount Peace Cemetery. The daughter of William and Deborah Ewing Hoy, she was born 7 Jun 1901 in Forrest, Hardin, Ohio, and died 20 Dec 1987 in Pompano Beach, Broward, Florida.
