Beatrice Cradic Cavin, age 96, of Church Hill passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Cavin was a life long resident of Hawkins County ( Church Hill) and was the oldest living member of McPheeters Bend Baptist Church. She taught small childrens Sunday school for a number of years and was active in the church until poor health took over. She taught school in the 30's and early 40's for the Hawkins County School System having worked for Head Start in New Canton and Church Hill Schools food servicefor several years. She was a member of the Church Hill Senior Citizens and a member of the Fairview Chapter #80 Eastern Star of Church Hill.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Dee Cavin and parents R.O. Cradic and Beatrice Long Cavin. Her foster parents who raised her Hale and Kate Scism. several Half Brothers and Sisters.

Survivors include her Daughter and Son-in-law, Patricia (Patsy) Hurd and Alvin York Hurd of Church Hill. Foster Brother, John Scism of Church Hill. Sister-in-law, Lucille Cavin Church Hill. Several Neices and Nephews.

Calling hours are from 5:30 to 7:00 pm Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Gerhardt, Rev. John Trewhella , Rev. Mark Roberts officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday at the McPheeters Bend Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am Saturday morning.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of food and flowers the family request donations to be made to your favorite charity or the Goshen Valley Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. 2224, Church Hill, Tn. 37642 or the Of One Acord Food Bank.
